While ransomware and ransomware-as-a-service (RaaS) attacks have dominated much of the cybersecurity community’s discussions over the past several months, criminals and hackers continue to compromise corporate, business and personal emails for financial gain. The FBI's latest report on cybercrime in the United States found that the average ransom paid by victims of ransomware rose by 82% to $570,000 between the first half of 2021 and 2020.
